Tipton. Here is an original photo that I took in Tipton, Pennsylvania, on 10 May 1964. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9647, #9852-B, and #9544. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9647 is an EF-15A built in March of 1950 and retired in July of 1965. #9852-B is an EFP-15 built in June of 1952 and retired in October of 1967. #9544 is an EF-15 built as an EH-15 in October of 1948, later regeared and reclassified as an EF-15, and retired in April of 1966. This A-B-A set is crossing Clearfield Avenue with a 160-car westbound mixed-cargo freight train along with N-8 cabin car #478189. |
